We look for committed and dedicated loving "forever homes" for all our adoptable horses....
Looking to match the right person or family with the right horse, taking at risk horses out of the cycle of re homing forever.
Joey's Home Animal Rescue screens carefully and follows up on all adoptions, delighted you may be interested in one of our horses we will ask a lot of questions and verify all information provided. Before you adopt we will also ensure you are able to provide for your horse in every way necessary to offer your new best friend the life and conditions they deserve.
Thirteen year old registered Quarterhorse, rescued at auction when only the kill buyer was bidding on her. Abused and mistreated to the point that you could not touch her face, with a tongue cut nearly in half by a severe bit. After months of love, rehabilitation and retraining she is an amazingly calm, dependable trail horse.
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful horse... It will bring us to tears to see her go but she is ready for a forever home.
Kara also recently rescued from auction an anxious, frightened horse in unfamiliar surroundings, we gave her time to settle and adjust and she is responding beautifully. To our surprise she is a very well trained and responsive riding horse in need of an experienced adoptive forever home.
Adoptable or Companion Horse
Freckles came to Joey’s Home Animal Rescue as an owner surrender about 6-7 years ago. Unfortunately it was a case of a young girl outgrowing her horse and finding boys, it happens! We were told that he had an old injury to his left knee when he was young. His age is about 16 – 17 now we are guessing. Because of the knee injury he is only suitable for light work or trail riding. No cantering but possibly some light trotting. He is trained and does very well on the ground and takes very good care of kids while being led. He can be a little naughty and go his own way if he knows he can get away with it that is why we are suggesting at least an intermediate rider who just wants to explore and mosey on down the trail. He’s wonderful to ride if he senses that you know what you are doing, hence the intermediate rider. He is great around other horses. He cannot be ridden up and down steep terrain because of the knee but he can carry you out for a nice easy trail ride. He is a sweet boy and will work for cookies!
